Garnet had felt so confident that she was finally, finally taking things into her own hands. She'd kept Tantalus on their toes when requesting they kidnap her, had come up with the plan to meet Regent Cid in Lindblum to get to the bottom of what was going on with her mother, and was ready to confront the queen herself. Except now nobody believes she's capable of doing anything except sitting around and waiting for the adults to solve all the problems.
It's infuriating. And even Zidane, who had seemed so supportive of her plan to escape, seems to be on board with it all. Had he only been saying those things as part of hitting on her?
She needs to come up with a plan to get out of here, and fast. She can't let her mother continue to spiral out of control like this, but with how overprotective Steiner and Cid are, she's only going to get one shot at sneaking out of the castle. So some research in advance will be necessary.
Thankfully, her royal status at least permits her to wander around the majority of the castle freely, even if leaving is forbidden. So she's deep in her "reconnaissance work" in the castle when she's startled by Zidane's sudden appearance. ]
